So when I went to Humboldt state I spent several years of my life in the beautiful town of Mckinleyville, California . “Wheres the horses have the right away” was the town slogan and there wasn’t much to skate at all except the parking lot at Ray’s market. So funny that on a nice weekend day there would be 20 plus shredding this small curb that was out back and a couple manual pads. I bet that place doesn’t see much skating these days with the park in Arcata and Eureka now. Even 15 years ago there was a movement to get a skatepark, but it never panned out. Now it’s closer than ever and its a beautiful Grindline design. You can check out the designs here.
They are trying to raise money any way and one of the raddest ways ever is by selling a special brew made by Six Rivers Brewerylocated in McKinleyville. They are making the Frontside Ale
and the proceeds go to making the park. It isn’t in bottles yet, but if your in town or driving through to Oregon on the 101, stop in Mckinleyville, buy a pitcher, and then get back on the road!
